Rabbi Chaim Gruber had never met or spoken with Joan Rivers, RIP. However, in order to pay his respects—as well as due to his concerns about the comedienne, before her death, acerbating the Middle Eastern conflict with inflammatory public remarks—the rabbi decided to attend the memorial service uninvited. Taking along his assistant, C. Seamus (Yakov) McClare, they sat near Geraldo Rivera and his wife. After the service, the Rabbi took the opportunity to speak to a number of stars regarding the great need for making peace between Jews, Christians, and Muslims.
Rabbi Chaim Gruber with Lisa Robertson and other gracious hosts from the QVC Shopping Network (Joan Rivers was closely affiliated with QVC). The American Rabbi chatted about the very privileged status of Americans. He also said that Americans should be both grateful for such a status and at work to make world peace so that this privilege could be safely maintained.
Rabbi Gruber in serious dialogue with Whoopie Goldberg. The Rabbi spoke of Jews, Christians, and Muslims all believing in a singular Almighty Who desires peace on Earth. Therefore, he said, these religious groups should be able to agree on rules that everyone can live by; this is because, as unfairness creates conflict, only through fairness to all can God’s desire for peace be achieved.
