N.           Comments About this Novel Understanding of Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 from Fr. John McNeil, Dolores Huerta, and John Berendt

Fr. John McNeil is a pioneer gay theologian and the author of The Church and the Homosexual. He is, also, a former Catholic priest who was forbidden to continue his gay and lesbian ministry by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who later became Pope Benedict XVI. Fr. McNeil wrote the following about my understanding of Leviticus: “This new and remarkable assertion about the Bible’s real perspective on homosexuality deserves the utmost investigation... There is no doubt in my mind that if [this] reading of Leviticus is true, then it knocks out [any claims that] condemn homosexual behavior as contrary to God’s will... God bless [this] work!”

Dolores Huerta—pioneer human rights activist, co-founder of the United Farm Workers with Cesar Chavez, RIP, and keynote speaker at the 2009 Gay and Lesbian Task Force conference—called my understanding of Leviticus “Awesome work!”

John Berendt is the author of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the all-time, number-one, New York Times bestseller for spending the longest number of weeks on the Times’ bestseller list (216). Mr. Berendt said the following about my perspective: “Very intelligent, well-reasoned, imaginative, clever... [a] very powerful argument... [My] deconstruction of Hebrew leads one to believe that the meaning [of the original Leviticus texts] is completely different from the King James Version, [which] is insufficient to the task and misleading... This can be shown not only word for word, but letter for letter.”
